Yaum-E-Ashur is being observed today with due solemnity and sanctity to pay homage to the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain Razi Allah-ho Tala Anho and his companions in Karbala.
Alam, Zuljinah and Taazia processions will be taken out in all small and big towns of the country. The ulema and zakireen will highlight the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and various aspects of Karbla tragedy.
Strict security measures have been made along the routes of processions to avoid any untoward incident. Mobile phone service will remain partially suspended in various cities. Authorities have also banned pillion riding in all major cities. Shops and markets along the routes of processions have been sealed.
CCTV cameras have also been installed on the routes of the Muharram processions Rangers and police have been deployed in strength in Karachi to maintain law and order. Pakistan army will remain on high alert to respond to any emergency situation.
Around 5,000 security personnel including frontier corps Balochistan and levies have been deployed in Quetta to ensure security during Muharram processions and majalis.
Army has acceded to the request of the Punjab government for deployment of 32 army companies in 27 districts of the province.
The Punjab police have deployed over 200,000 personnel to cover the Muharram processions and other religious gatherings across the province. Similar security arrangements have also been put in place in Peshawar, Hangu, Dera Ismail Khan and other sensitive areas of the province.
