Big blow to BCCI

Indian Supreme Court on Friday disallowed BCCI from releasing funds to 12 state associations unless Lodha panel reforms are implemented.

Supreme Court says state associations will not get funds unless BCCI body passes resolution to implement justice Lodha committee reforms.

BCCI in its response said it wasn’t running away from reforms to which the Court replied that the board should move in the right direction in that case.

The Court further ordered BCCI president Anurag Thakur to file a personal affidavit on his conversation with the ICC president David Richardson, whether he asked the global body to opine whether Lodha panel’s intervention amounted to governmental interference.

Earlier, BCCI had refused to give an undertaking that the board would fully comply with the Lodha panel recommendations.

In added blow to the state associations, the Court ordered the 13 state bodies that did receive the funds from BCCI to not use it until they file undertakings to abide by the Lodha panel’s recommendations.

The next hearing has been kept for October 17.
