Ban KI-Moon Addresses UN General Assembly

UN Secretary-General Ban KI-Moon has urged world leaders to end the war in Syria and bring the Paris climate deal into force this year. In his opening address at annual General Debate of U.N. General Assembly, he regretted that the prospects of a two-state solution of the Palestinian conflict are being lowered day by day. Referring to migration of refugees, the UN Secretary General underlined the need to address the factors that compel people to migrate. With just three months to go before he steps down as U.N. Chief, Ban KI-Moon appealed to all those with influence to end the fighting and get talks started in Syria. The former south Korean Foreign Minister is stepping down on December 31 after 10 years in what has been widely described as the world’s most impossible job.
