Pakistan Provides Afghanistan Access To It Sports For Transit Trade

The Foreign Office has said Pakistan has constantly provided Afghanistan access to its ports for transit trade. In a statement, foreign office spokesman Nafees Zakaria said Pakistan will continue to facilitate the afghan transit trade as part of its commitment to the afghan people. Maintaining that bilateral transit trade agreement does not involve transit to and from India, he said Pakistan has allowed transit of afghan fruit to India through Wagah as a goodwill gesture. Pointing out that Pakistan has not blocked afghan transit access to Pakistani port, he said that Chaman border was closed from August 19 to 31 as some miscreants on the Afghan side burnt Pakistani flag. Nafees Zakaria said that the border was opened after the two sides mutually worked out measures to avoid a repeat of such incidents.
