ECNEC Approves Projects Worth Billions

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council has approved various development projects worth billions of rupees. The Committee, which met with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in chair approved construction of 59.1 Kilometres Burhan to Havalian Motorway at cost of 34 billion rupees. The meeting also approved Lowari Tunnel project which would be completed in 2017. According to details, the project would include construction of 8 Kilometres of Lowari tunnel and 40 Kilometres of connecting road. Construction of 130 Kilometre Chakdara-Chitral road has been approved. The project would benefit the areas of Chakdara, Timergara, Dir and Chitral. The body also approved installation of Shiplift transformer at Karachi port. The project would cost 9.56 billion rupees. To ensure provision of water in Balochistan, 22.16 billion rupees have been allocated.
