PM Chairs Cabinet Meeting

The Federal Cabinet has decided to formulate a comprehensive policy for families of victims of terrorism across the country. Meeting of the cabinet is underway with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the chair. The policy will cater sustenance and wellbeing of affected families and education and employment of shohada’s children. The policy draft will be presented before the parliament. The Prime Minister said feasibility for establishment of national endowment fund for terror victims will be examined at the earliest. The cabinet was also apprised about the progress on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor project. The Prime Minister directed for formulating a mechanism for continuously reviewing the progress and speedy implementation of all the projects under the umbrella of CPEC. He said we should focus our energies on forward planning too. The eleven point agenda of the cabinet meeting also include the policy of land banking with cooperation of private sector. The memorandum of understanding between Pakistan and Turkmenistan for cooperation in defense sector will also be discussed in the meeting. The meeting will consider the proposed draft bill of ‘the code of criminal procedure amendment act 2016’ and the approval for initiating negotiations between Pakistan and Kenya on cooperation in combating drug trafficking. Approval for signing treaty between Pakistan and Kazakhstan on extradition, agreement between Pakistan and Turkmenistan on abolition of visa for diplomatic passport holders and initiation of negotiations between state bank of Pakistan and Central Bank of Russia for bank supervisory cooperation.
